Along with performers like Dominique A. and Valérie Lemercier, French singer/songwriter Philippe Blanchard (1968) aka Katerine aka Philippe Katerine was among the leaders of the 'minimalist variete' movement in French pop during the mid-1990s. Initially drawing on influences as diverse as Burt Bacharach and Michel Legrand to The Clash and the Buzzcocks, Katerine has broadened his scope over the course of his releases.
